I've got over 13K on my Cooper, and was wondering about how to properly clean my K & N air filter- anyone do this recently? Any web links w/ how to's? I don't really do any work on my car, and though I'm sure it's ridiculously easy and I could probably ask at any decent auto parts store, I'd prefer to get the info from experienced MINI owners.

You need to buy a cleaning kit from the autoparts store. It comes with two bottles. One that cleans it, and the other is the oil that you spray onto the filter.

Instructions are included in the kit. It's pretty easy.

But be careful to not over oil the filter or you'll clog up the MAF sensor the throttle body.

When I clean a K&N, I will leave it out in the sun for an afternoon after oiling it. It's a tip one of my 4x4 buddies told me to do so that excess oil will drip out of the filter before it gets a chance to mess with the MAF.

Hi, new here - just got my MCS. I was wondering - did the K&N drop in filter do anything over the stock air filter? I would love to put Alta intake, but don't want to jeopardize the warranty.

What I want to know is, did it do anything to the sound. I just love the whine of supercharger - its so intoxicating. Is there anything I could do to increase that sound?

The hot tip with oiled air filters is NOT to clean them often! They actually filter more crap out the dirtier they become, as the dirt on the filter helps trap more. Read the instructions that cam with the filter or go to the K&N website to see for yourself.

Mike.
