Chain Tensioner Replacement

I've read through various comments on changing the timing chain "tensioner". Most of the post related to the engine being partially torn down or the valve cover off at the minimum.

Today I installed a new tensioner by simply removing the cap bolt, pulling out the old one and inserting the new one. The new one was already compressed from the factory. I screwed and tightened the cap bolt back on and started the car. The oil pressure expanded the new one into place. DONE!

If for some reason your new tensioner is expanded, then I recommend you refer back to the more complicated procedure's that others have covered. The cap bolt is difficult to access. Remove the passenger side front tire. I was able to get to it using a long 19mm open end wrench. Wear glove because when it breaks lose, you'll smash your hand into something.

This was my exact experience this evening. Couldn't have been easier.
