Specs: R50 2006 (1st Gen) - 5spd mini - 80 000km (About 48 000 miles) everything stock. (Wifes car) - I live in Toronto Canada, so salt and cold weather is a normality here.

While getting the winter tires installed, I told my mechanic that the exhaust has been louder than usual. He noticed that I had a crack right before the first hangers (I guess right at the end of the test pipe close to the resonator)

He quoted me $650 since it's one part from the header down to the exhaust tip...? What do you guys recommend, can I get this fixed and only swap out the faulty part or should I buy the entire exhaust system at $650...

Can an exhaust shop fix this up at a fair price or will everything else start cracking as well.

While a new piece might be welded in, ir becomes a question of how long you will keep the car....it is only a matter of time before the other parts go....so fixing a chunk here...then there might end up costing you more than just replacing it all....not to mention the extra repair time. Most any exaust shop can fab up a replacement part i think, but since i am not familar with the r50 exaust, i'll let some that knows it reccomend if you should go custom, performance, or stock....
