Xenon Control Module bad ... replace myself?

Had quite the monsoon here in Florida the other week and I hit a giant puddle in my Mini which caused my left headlamp to go out. Upon taking it to service they said that water had leaked into the Xenon housing and damaged the control unit module. The headlamps are not covered under warranty because they've been Joey-modded.

Is this a part I could purchase myself and do the installation with some instruction? Mini wants $600 to replace them and I just can't afford it. Also just thinking about getting a whole new housing and came across these that might be a good option if I can't just find the control unit module myself: http://www.ebay.com/itm/230686026989...ht_6566wt_1034

Any advice would be appreciated!

Are you refering to the lamp ballast that's on each headlight?
If so, those are easy to replace: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...68&hg=63&fg=05
But the price is steep; those are over $450 each...
