I have a question for regular halogen headlamp owners (or anyone that knows):

My owners manual says that for 1-2 people the headlamps should be adjusted at # 0. Then for four passengers or heavy cargo to set it at # 2.

In my car, # 2 sets the headlamps on the low position while #0 sets them in the highest position. I thought that when you have cargo or passengers your headlamps should be set HIGHER to compensate for the extra weight pushing the car lower to the ground, thus improving visibility. Am I right and my MINI is set backwards?

Your understanding isn't correct. Increased passenger weight disproportionately affects the height of the *rear* of the car, not the front, so when you add cargo or passengeres, you dial the headlamp height downwards to prevent directing blinding glare to other road users.

Thanks a lot,

That now makes sense, as the weight would be distributed heavier on the back with more people / cargo

I was assuming that since the car was riding lower, then I should raise the headlamps.
