I recently made the purchase of a Moss Mini Billet Dipstick. I figured a metal one with little groves would be easier to read than the stock plastic one, for a 03 MCS.
It is easier to read but a new problem has popped up, it seems its a tight fit or gets jammed up when all the way in. I have to tug or give it a twist for it to come loose and extend back out. And on especially cold days I cant seem to budge it.

Does anyone else have one and have this problem? Or is this something isolated to me?

I had the exact same problem a few months ago. I returned it and they credited my credit card no questions asked. They did however say they'd had other complaints and said they were pulling it from stock until a "proper" one had been made.

I have the same problem reading the mini dip-stick, and was just about to order the one from Moss until I read your thread(s). Maybe if one side was sanded smooth it would read.....maybe not. If I hear of one that works, I will pass on the info.

Contacted Moss, told them about my problem with the sticking dipstick. I also told them that I had missplaced my receipt. They told me to send it back for a refund. Good customer service!

I had the same problem; it looked great, but it was not functional and it broke apart in the tug-of-war I waged to remove it. I did not send it back, yet.

I really like the look of a lot of the Moss engine accessories and was planning to purchase some to dress up the engine bay a bit but I've heard a lot of negative comments. Most have been about fit issues such as these with the dipstick but also with some of the screw on caps and covers. I think I'll wait. I'd like to see some with the actual MINI logo on it instead of Moss Mini's stylized mini logo. Maybe MINI will produce some or license someone else (MINI FINI?) to do it.

If you just pull at it, it's a bear to get out. If you twist it as you pull it comes out like butter. They have a tighter seal than the OEM ones. Learned this at a vist to Moss. I have one and I like it, just had to learn the twist trick (clockwise for me)

to add to the comments about the moss
dip-sticks. THEY STILL SUCK!
got mine last week. they snag@bottom&
fit too tight had to file& dress the indicator
to make it work. also o-rings are too fat.
real JUNK!

I can't stress enough how much these things suck. The handle on mine just broke off on Sunday as we went to check the oil before heading out for a drive! Had to get out some vice grips to get a grip on what was left of the damn thing. Finally got it out and replaced it with the stock dipstick.

We'll be contacting Moss this week. A tight seal is great, but this is ridiculous.

update on moss dip-stick.
just switched o-rings from the mini stick
to the moss. works ok now.
you still have to dress the upper taper on
the end. moss should get their
act together.

My story with this product is exactly the same.
