service engine soonlight
well gang i was about 1000 miles over due for my 28k serviciing when my "service engine soon" light came on. I went to the dealership, they did their servicing and I got the car back just fine. so i drive around for a few days a lo and behold the light comes back on. so i checked out the gas cap (i've had the problem before with other cars) and the idiot at the gas station had broken the rubber retaining band and screwed the cap over it. I took the cap off and whooooosh the vacuum is broken. i called the dealership, the service advisor told me to drive around for 40 miles and the light would go out on its own. 200 miles later and no avail. Any ideas other than trekking out to the dealership?
thanks,
Alex

Could be anywhere from a bad engine sensor to an actual problem in the emissions control system. Better take it back to the dealer, that way the tech can retrieve the "code" stored in memory after each "SES" light incident. The code retrieved from memory will hopefully point to the source of the problem. Don't risk engine damage!
