Replacing '02 5 spd trans

All,
I posted this several days ago in a different area, but there was no response and I need to know if it is possible.

Can I put an '05 6 spd in my '02 MC (no S) that has a 5 spd? My tranny came apart and I need to replace. I have a lead on an '05 6 spd, but don't know if it will fit....

Another option might be to repair mine (lots to repair) but I am not sure where to get parts. Any suggestions there?

Sorry about the multipe posts, but again I need an answer!

Thank you ALL!!

Do a search there is a ton of info on this, it can be done, but it's not cheap. I have used trans and parts kits to do it if need.

Thanks for the reply....

I have done multiple searches of the forums and have spent numerous hours trying to sort through posts, but cannot find anything on this. If anyone can point me to a post that would be great!

I find the search function rather clumsy on this site and trying to sort through the amount of information you are presented with is extremely difficult and very time consuming.

BTW. I think any fix at this point is going to be costly...

I'm sorry, I do not have anything of real value to add to the subject, but if you google using "site:northamericanmotoring.com/forums" before your keywords, that should help out tremendously. I have been using this method of searching the forums instead of searching through the site itself. Good luck!

Click on the powertrain or DIY tab on the site below and there should be several links about transmission swaps to a 6 speed. Good luck.
