Whistling flywheel?

So it seems my flywheel is making a whistling noise. Sounds funny that a flywheel can "whistle" but it is dependant on engine speed and stops immediately when the clutch is pushed in. It is a high pitched noise...almost the sound of a turbo (but no its NOT the turbo).

Any ideas??

I just had it replaced 4k miles ago due to excessive rattling and this is my 3rd flywheel/clutch.....

I kinda was thinking that but I've had a throwout bearing go bad and it caused engagement issues. Engagement is perfect and clutch acts normal

If the noise stops very soon in the clutch pedal travel, meaning just taking up the free play, but it's still engaged, I'd suspect the throwout. If the noise goes away only when the clutch is fully disengaged, maybe it's the input shaft bearing.

Indeed...it stops immediately upon the slightest pressure on the clutch pedal.

Thanks for your input!

Keep us posted. I was getting a whistling sound just now from my Mini. Was wondering where it was coming from.
