Well, I put the MCS in storage and as a good boy disconnected the negative terminal cable as instructed on a "winterizing BMW helpful hint" sheet. Of course, I forgot of the past problems we had on MCO with no juice to open the rear boot. So, knowing that I have the "cable", I pulled, and pulled and pulled. The door opens a crack, but not enough.

Thought, before I tear into the rear back-seats (up of course), what if I put a jumper from another running vehicle on the positive under the bonnet with a good ground - will that be a good way to get juice temporarily to open the boot?

I'm never going to do this again without at least putting down the rear seats.

Thanks,
SMKKVK

Yes, you can 'remote power' the car with jumper cables or a booster pack under the bonnet to be able to use the electric trunk release (or anything else if the battery is disconnected or removed).
