A/C fan stops working intermittently
I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having with my A/C. 2007 MCS, in the morning, I can turn on the fan for the A/C, and it appears to work for a little while, but I've had it stop on its own before, and usually if I try it again during the day (when the ambient temperature has risen significantly and A/C would be needed most), it will not work at all.
This occurs without even pressing the button for A/C -- just the fan controls.
I've confirmed that the fan does kick on after engine shut off if the engine is hot, and the fan does turn on while idling somewhere in the 105-108 C, keeping the engine temp below 110 C.
I've found some threads about a resistor that burns out on at least the 1st gen MINIs, stopping low speed on the fan. Is this still a problem on the 2nd gen? I've also read that this would not prevent the A/C from working, just make it work harder. So... doesn't sound like intermittent issue.
I've also replaced the 30A fuse in the engine fuse box with a 40A fuse, per MB 61 04 07 just in case. No luck.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

I was reading about some correlation between the two, but it did sound like a long-shot. Your post got me thinking to look under my dash where my A/C fan is, and I started wiggling some cables, and low-and-behold, my fan started working! So I guess I just have a loose cable!
Just to follow up if anyone else has this problem; it turns out that my X9331 harness that I made for my audio installation came loose. It's really tight behind the driver-side kick panel, and I guess the large brown wire ripped out, and this must go to the A/C fan. Mystery solved.
