I have a 2004 Mini Cooper S built 4-2004. I just replace my battery on my key and followed the direction on the manual for programming. It works when I am inside the car but when out side of the car it does not work. Anyone out there have any idea. Alot of threads say the battery gets charged but my model is the programmed one with the battery change.

 

There are so many tech version of these "key fob & battery replacement" version. You will hear many different advice.

I'm also frustrated why a major car manufacturer will make a complicated car key, non-replaceable battery & fixed key. Money making & stupid design.
