Knock Sensor, Service Engine Soon as soon as I took posession of my MINI!

So I traded in my Gorgeous 2006 F150 Harley Davidson Truck for cash and a 2004 MINI Base CVT. I was looking for a good parallel parking car. The sales people were willing to drive the cart to me to do the switch-a-roo since they had to wait to cut me a check, and I wasn't available to go back to the dealership. Well they drove away in my Truck and I put the key in my mini and the service engine light was on! I took a pic of it and text messaged it to my Sales person, like , WTF?

It's a 2004 base model on 50K miles on it. I mean it runs and looks and smells brand new!

Another part of the deal was they were supposed to give me a full tank of gas. I had Autozone run the code on the Mini and it came back with a P0326, knock Sensor. I'm not going to pay to take it to BMW, I'm not into that sort of thing and frankly can't afford those prices. I come from a ford truck family where we work on our own automobiles! Perhaps this Lux car brand thing was a mistake. Fords don't throw codes until after 100K! whaaaaa! Should have gotten a newer Ford Focus for the money!

Here's my question. Do you think cheap 7/11 gas could cause a knock and set my sensor off? I test drove the car 4 times and the SES light had never come on before so I can only assume this has to do with the sales people putting bad gas in it. I'm now trying to find someone willing to siphon the full tank of gas out of my mini. LOL Not gong so well.

Second question.
Can I unplug the battery and reset the code that way after I put better gas in it?

Fixed!

I decided to pop the hood and poke around and sure enough the sensor had been unplugged and wasn't reconnected at the dealership. I reset the code at the auto parts store and it's fixed!

Any a-hole who delivers a car to a purchaser with a code light on deserves an asskicking.

I'm with HRM that's not right. But why did they have it disconnected?

It was a Toyota Dealership and they do a 125 point safety inspection. They gave me new tires new brakes and rotors and it looks like they might have replaced a gasket on the paperwork? This all happened after we haggled the price. I took that lid off the front of the engine block and viola! Disconected plug! I'm so happy now with my new (to me) mini! It has way more power too.

Keep that CVT fluid changed and fresh. Not be be gloom and doom but a CVT is not cheap to repair.
