Popping sound when in reverse

So, when I am in reverse and backing out and have the wheel turned all the way to the right or left side, I get this popping sound until I stop backing out. The sound seems to be coming from the front suspension. I have been doing some google searches and read that it could be the cv joint going bad. I honestly don't know though . Also, if it is the cv joint going bad is this something that would be replaced under warranty? Lastly, my Mini is an auto if that makes a difference. Thanks for any help .

Does the noise yours is making sound anything like the one posted in this thread?

If so, post #3 provides the apparent answer.

Yes it would be warrantied. It is sort of a clicking and often it only happens (or happens more often/louder) when making a turn.

If you can see the rubber boot torn and/or grease all over by the drive shaft, it is CV joint for sure.

So, I checked the CV joint or what I thought was the CV joint and everything looked ok. No ripped rubber or oil anywhere. And now I am back to square one .
