Passenger Seat Does Not Return to Position

I have searched and have not found anything on this ( hope I did not miss it ).

I have a '10 Clubman S, and I have noticed that the passenger seat back does not return to the prior till angle after the rear seat escape leaver is pulled.

1. My kids open the club door and pull the seat leaver,
2. The seat tilts and slides forward,
3. We slid the seat all the back
4. We then tilt the seat back up and it stops straight up.

Is this normal (silly that it would be) ?

MINI dropped the memory function for the seat back angle on the passenger seat starting in 2010 vehicles, so this is normal. It still remains on the driver's side. In addition, MINI removed the hard backing on the back of the seats and is using just a vinyl backing now. All to save a few pennies.

You sure about that? I have a 2009 so i can't deny what you say, but sounds too odd... Do this, at some point my passenger seat stopped doing the memory function too ; slide the seat using the normal back-to-front slider control all the way fully to the front, then fully to the back hard and back again. When I did that it caught the memory mechanism and reset properly.

Page 37 of 2011 Mini Cooper S Owners Manual states

"The Drivers Seat has a mechanical memory" So I guess they did drop it from passengers seat. Wow, that sorta sucks. But I never carry rear seat passengers anyway.

I prefer to think of it as weight reduction, more speed......

Thank you everyone for your replys.

I will try the reset that was suggested.

Pound wise (ok maybe oz.) Penny foulish. Having a seat memory on rhe drivers seat is a must. Being that on this side of the pond we drive on the left, and they drive on the right. So now they have four standard front seats.....
