The Yo-Yo Chronicles
--->cooper44; I'm not aware of VW's diverter valve issues, but then again, I'm not involved in the VW universe. Perhaps DiD or VdubDoug would know.
--->Koopah; Thanks for the e-mail
When it arrives I will investigate if a modification to the design will effect the Yo-Yo.
Cheers,
Ryan

Bravo, Ryan. Thanks for putting in all this effort. Hopefully a solution will emerge. (Any chance we could do a low-tech workaround, while waiting for the real fix? Perhaps a stronger or weaker spring? Something that doesn't completely disable the bypass valve?)
I've had yo-yo since the end of my break-in period. Oct '02 build. (I think that's right. Delivered in Jan of '03.)

Craig (and everyone) - thanks for the kind words! Hopefully my investigation will yield a (relatively) quick fix from MINI, and everyone can get on with smooth Motoring!
---> Dave: apart from tying the bypass valve shut, there really isn't a good way to impliment an additional external spring. It's so tough to get in there without removing a bunch of stuff (throttle body and airbox) that tying it shut is the best deal for now.

Thank you Everyone for your help!
My appointment is very early tomorrow morning. I'll be sure to give everyone up-to-the-minute feedback on what I hear from MINIUSA Engineering. As I kind of suspected, the build date range is broad indeed! From a March '02 build all the way to November '03 builds, looks like the Yo-Yo has been around longer than I thought.
Until the fix,
Motor-On!
