I have a 2007 Mini Cooper S with a automatic tranny with 28k on it. This weekend I took it in for a oil change and did it at a non-mini dealership (nearest one is 2 hours away) And then today it started making a popping sound when you rev the motor. The pop seems to happen at a high RPM then again at a low RPM and the car is lacking power when you accelerate and its not shifting right. So did the oil place do something wrong? Im also wondering if this could be from putting low grade fuel into it? Im not 100% but Im starting to have doudts about the gas I put in..... Im hoping I messed up and put the wrong gas and there is an easy fix. Pleas any ideas?
Sorry to hear about your problems. I would do the following:
1.Check oil level in engine. Is it low? What type of oil was put in engine? Was the oil the correct type for a Mini? You may want to check your receipt or check with the shop that did the work.
2.Check transmission fluid level. Was the shop familiar with Mini's? Could they have possibly taken fluid out of the transmission or added fluid to it?
3. Did you get a receipt for the gas fill up, such as a credit card receipt from the fill up to check what fuel you put in it?

Well its off to the mini dealership so they can look at it. I know there are some issues witht e 2007 mini S and I was hoping I could get a list of the stock problems in case they try to pull a fast one on me and say it was something I did. is there a list of OEM issues?
Seriously doubt the oil service station made your problems.
Couple things could be causing this.
1.Bad fuel which really cant be tested (other than the ethonol %) until new fuel is put in the vehicle.
2. Possible that the High pressure fuel pump is acting up. (dealer has to test the fuel pressure when the vehicle is acting up, which is usually in the morning after sitting overnight.
3. 28k miles, could possible have carbon buildup on the intake valves.
Could be a combination of a few but whatever it the dealer should be able to tell you exactly whats going on.
