Mini S 2003 Transmission issue

Is there an issue w/2003 Mini S in regards to their transmission? Our Mini has 79442 on the odometer and the shift cables have broken; the rubber bushings are cracked and deteriorated. I'm wondering if it could be accident related so I can report it to my AAA insurance for repair costs.

Doubt it but it can be fixed by you in a couple of hours your first time around. The cables are a bit pricey, but it isn't too bad.
