Good mechanic to fix timing chain rattle in So Cal

I went to Steves Auto Clininc and was quoted $1,100! I'm just out of of warrenty and to be honest, $1,100 is pretty steep!
Are there any other alternative shops local to Los Angeles?!

How far out of warranty are you? Have you talked to a dealer about it? You might be able to get goodwill coverage....

Maybe all you need is the tensioner? If so, I can't imagine that being more than $200-300, parts and labor. They charged warranty 1 hr labor to change mine...

It sounds like they want you to buy a whole chain kit. Labor is roughly 8 hours to do the job. If you were in AZ i'd do the entire thing for a whole lot cheaper, can be done in a driveway too.

Have you had a tensioner replaced in the last 2 years? if so that falls under a parts warranty situation and all parts and labor are covered reguardless of milage.
