Stumble: I have a request
Hello all,
It's me....
I live on Long Island in NY.
Here's my request.
I would like to drive a car that has the ...stumble...yo-yo...bog... issue(s)
I 've fortunately never had any of these issues...from my perspective.
I would like to see what it's like 1st hand and try to help in any way that I can.
I'm willing to let someone test drive my MCS as well... to have a point of reference and to aid identifying these issues?????
I'm curious as to whether or not someone else might think my MCS has any of these issues ????
Think of it as ....an experiment of sorts
I'm always available ....
Please just....send me an IM, give a calll 516 551 5517 or
dminiero@optonline.net
Peace,
D

I feel the same way d-mini-ero, except I feel like I probably have a bit of a stumble or at least a bog when letting the clutch out at a reasonable RPM. But then again, if the supercharger is not providing boost in hte lower 2000 RPM range, then maybe a little bog is normal for a 1.6L FOUR on a 2600lb car.
I asked for someone in Minnesota to give me a call so I could
drive around with my portable scantool hooked up and got no takers.
Maybe this is a bit more rare than we hear?
Let us know how you do with your request.

so many 5's and 1's....my head hurts...
j/k mine has both, but in detroit. so if your out this way you can feel, hear, and see it. but trust me you do not want them. V36 seams to take car of the stumble from what i hear, but right now ryan is hard at work using our cars as a test bed to learn out why the yo-yo is and how to fix it. he/we are getting very close to knowing what it is, but to fix it is another problem.

Let's have a Stumble /yo-yo/bog...MEET !!!!
There seems to be a substancial population out there...that is "infected" w/ this condition?????or is it limited to... a few unlucky souls?????
Are there no instances of..... stumble/yo-yo/bog...in the tri state area ?????
We can meet @ a large parking area that is mutually agreed upon and put these cars thru their paces.
Call it a "stumble autox lite"
I'm listening friends.
Peace,
D

If your request was two weeks sooner, I would have gladly driven down from Cape Cod. I had the stumble real bad. After v.36, there is not even a hint of stumble. The yo-yo is much reduced. My idle fluctuation has an undetermined origin at this point...

It's an interesting experiment, but I'm thinking that the results will be just interesting and not much more. My personal theory is that the stumble is/was particularly bad for MCSs with CD 32 - 33 software. Earlier software had other problems, and was particularly notable for cold start problems. Upgrading to 32 - 33 induced a bad stumble...and many (but not all!) cars with 32 or 33 from the factory can "delivered" with the stumble.
Furthermore, cars with the pulley modification have never had as apparent a stumble as those without, regardless of software version. I can't really say why that is, but my guess is that the feeling of a pulley-modified car is substantially different EVEN AT LOWER RPMs such that what those of us non-modified MCS-drivers noticed was not as noticable. I also suspect that pulley-modified car drivers (whew!) have different expectations as far as driving feel, throttle, and clutch response...and thus did not complain about the same things as others have.
This is also all mediated by the fact that some cars -- Omtoast's for example -- had such a bad stumble that it was tremendously obvious that their cars were "broken" for sure. Fortunately, this "hitting a brick wall" stumble was rather rare...and equally fortunately, this too seems to be fixed with CD36 (so we're hearing here on NAM).
Bottomline is that we were dealing with drivability issues. These -- while rooted in a technical explanation -- are very subjective. So, I think you'd need to drive quite a few cars to really get some sort of quasi-objective point of view.
