Last night as I was pulling my 08 mcs into the parking garage I noticed a "pop" sound as I made hard left turns. I looked in the wheel well and couldn't see anything obvious that would cause it to happen, and I'm hoping its not too serious because I'm supposed to be going on a trip this weekend :( anyone have any ideas???

probably just a rock or something shot out from under the tire.

or maybe an endlink or something got in a bind... doubt it would do anything though

May be a rock. It could also be bushings or something in the suspension popping or maybe the steering if it only happened as you were turning. I had a pickup that squeaked from the right rear for years over speed bumps in certain weather. Never botherd getting it fixed because it would happen for a day or two then disappear for months.

Keep an ear on it and if it gets worse then run it to a shop or to the dealer and see if they can let you know what it is.

 

so i brought it in to have a different issue checked out and mentioned the sound from the wheel well, now its 2 days later and they are waiting for authorization from mini to replace the steering rack :( i figured it was something simple since the car hadn't alerted me of any issues, oh well at least its still under warranty
