Anyone Had This Problem
Anyone Had This Problem
Day before yesterday I was heading home from work. I punched the Sport button and zoomed home. As I approached home I disengaged the Sport button. The next morning minimac started fine, no problem; however, when I hit the gas it kind of bogged down several times as if it was going to die. This only seems to happen after I have been driving in the Sport mode. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.
I've never experienced that issue and I hit the sport button as soon as the engine fires up. I had the high pressure fuel pump issue/replacement but that was on start-up not while driving. Good luck....I'm sure if it's happened before someone on here will fill you in.

I've occasionally seen something like this too. I tend to agree with "grodenglaive," and have attributed it to "user error..." (allowing the revs to decrease too much before getting on the gas).
My manual transmission experience before getting my JCW Clubman was largely confined to normally-aspirated, V-8 powered sports cars (Firebirds, Corvettes), and you can get away with that practice (letting the revs to decrease below optimal) and still not really lug the car because it has so much torque. Plus the throttle response on the MINI is a bit different than I'm used to in these other vehicles. Not sure if it's the drive-by-wire schedule MINI uses; or turbo lag, which is totally absent in those other vehicles -- or a little of both...
When I was shopping for a MINI, I drove a few manually-equipped Cooper S Clubmans, and noticed the same standard throttle response that my JCW Clubman exhibits. I don't think it's a problem, per se, with your car specifically; but you do need to get used to keeping the revs up and the turbo engaged to avoid lugging the engine. And it's entirely possible that you're being a little careless there after "re-calibrating" your right foot for "SPORT" mode...
