They sent in some report to Mini USA stating the problem. Mini USA sent them something to re-program my car that was directed to mine (VIN # was given).
They said this re-program was different than a regular re-program (they tried that on another MCS & it didn't work until they got the new re-program from Mini USA).
I hope that does the trick. I'll update how it goes.
Please keep us updated and I really hope this fix works out for you.

One stall in 7,000mi

Have you considered stepping down to a more reliable MC? While it's a very different beast, it does get sweet and quite fun above 3400 RPMs (which incidentally turns the break-in period into torture). Also, if you drive stick you'll have to shift a lot more often and the 6 speeds will become useful.

----------------
The above is a true statement!

I drive an MCa 2009. One stall on complete cold, probably my fault; not enough time before flipping switches and throwing into gear.

Above 3,400 it really comes alive and with paddle shifters it is a fun ride. An "S" with the paddle shifters would an adrenaline machine!

So far its good...

Ok, so I picked up my car from the dealer on Tuesday around 12:30pm, and since then its been perfect. Today alone I had 4 hot starts from doing some run-arounds & everytime it started like a new car should. No rumbling, theatening to stall, nothing. Justs starts & stays running.

I'm sure everyone here will get their cars in perfect shape since MINI USA seemed to have the "fix" to the problem.

I also got mine back on Tuesday, it doesn't stall anymore. But I can see the rpm dips still and the car stumbles just a bit before it catches the idle. I did some similar hot starts in my friend's '07 MCS to compare, his is definitely smoother than mine. I guess as long as it doesn't stall, I'm okay with it.

tinyred1, that's great news. So did they ultimately perform that new reprogramming you posted before? What did they tell you in terms of how they went about fixing it? If you have access to a scanner maybe you can post your final work order form so we can see what was done.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Yeah, it was a new/different re-program from what they tried to other cars with the same issue.
They couldn't pin point exactly what the cause was...so other than getting the new re-programming from MINI USA, & applying it to my car, I can't really tell you how they fixed it. But that seemed to work.
When I picked up my car, the service person I dealt with was out for lunch & didn't have my paperwork done...they said they'd mail it to me. When I do get it, I'll put it up on the thread.

So how are we all doing? Has the re-program worked for everyone? While Violet doesn't stall anymore, on a warm start her idle does dip down but not as badly as she used to. I'll continue to watch her. I'm still holding off on some cosmetic mods because I don't want to spend more money that apparently, I'll have to fight like hell to get back if I have to trade her.

Mine does exactly the same thing on warm starts, it dips like before but now the ECU catches the idle and doesn't let it stall.

My MA called me the other day and asked if I'd like to demo (in Nov) and get a build slot for the Countryman. I aksed him if it has the Prince engine. He said yes I said no Given all the problems Ive had with this engine, I believe they are ticking time bombs that don't rate keeping once the warranty expires-- or even sooner.

I have an 07 MCSa with no Cold Start Issues, Stalling, Hood Scoop Warping...and I will be trading up to the Countryman in January...I just hope the new engine mods will have no issues after hearing the stories on the 2010 model.

I hope this helps those as frustrated as myself. Gary

That's what we ended up doing with our Camden, we had taken it at least 3 times to our dealer and every time they would say "it's fixed and ready!" but then it would happen again the very next day, so we decided to contact Eric at Mini of Ontario, he knew what we were talking about. We took it one day and they had it ready the next day. We picked it up yesterday and it's been great so far, we will keep you guys updated. Our baby would stall right after turning it on, and the last times it would only do it when we had the A/C on, so we had to make sure we turned off the A/C every time we turned off the car so that it wouldn't stall when we came back from our errands. Eric was very understanding, and the whole crew there is nice, not to mention the dealer is new so everything is super nice and they have a good selection of goodies to look at. We also saw a bunch of 2011's, plenty of colors to choose from. If only there wasn't so much traffic going overthere in the afternoons :(

Ok, here's the service report of what was done when I brought my Mini into the dealer for the hot start problem. Since then (which has been a while now), its been fine & never happened again.
Hope everyone else is getting (or has got) their Mini's back in perfect running order

They charged you for the repair? It should be under warranty!

Yeah that's what I was going to ask. Did they tell you why they needed to charge for this?

Took our '10 MCSa in yesterday and they reprogrammed the computer. Seems to have fixed the problem. You would think they would take all potentially affected cars and reprogram prior to selling them......
