Head Gasket replacement Anyone?
My MINI was tought to start on 3 seperate occasions each time I took it in and they weren't sure but the first 2 times they replaced a spark plug as the computer read misfire on cylinder X. Finally the third time they were able to diagnois that the head gasket needed replaced. They tell me that it was not blown but apperas to have been installed at the factory incorrectly. I have had the car 16 months and have just 10,500 miles on it.
Anyone have comments questions or just advice
Thanks

You've gone 10.5k on a "bad head gasket"!
Has the car consumed unusual amounts of oil and/or coolant? (sometimes a Tell)
I think the head-gasket diagnosis is possible, especially if they also rule out any ignition coil or wire problems. Head-gasket problem would be very possible if your MINI is also consuming more-than-normal oil and/or coolant. Hell, it's under warranty - have them change it and see what happens!
Good luck,
Ryan

Ditto to the previous comment ... have them replace it. Problems will occur, the measure of merit (for me) is the service after a problem is found. If your dealer steps forward and takes care of the problem than kudos to them and congrats on working with a great dealer.
I had a problem with a BMW and it took several attempts by the dealer to fix it. It became a challenge for the technician. He finally fixed the problem and all were happy. But the working relationship we established took time. Should it have? No. But I was willing to work with them in good faith and got them to think that maybe this customer was worth taking care of. It took time and patience on my part. I could have just gotten pissed with them and stormed out but they learn nothing and I just get frustrated. This way we all learn and develop.
Now they are some of my greatest allies when it comes to taking care of my vehicles and I know the people I'm dealing with by their first names.
Aw heck, I've been drinking and now am rambling
