There is something to be said about getting service, regardless of where you take your MINI. ALWAYS check under the bonnet before you drive off for loose or missing lids. If you get your oil changed, check the dipstick yourself.

This is no different than looking in the bag to make sure you order is correct when going through the fast food drive-thru.

yeah just do it yourself that's the best way. If you don't want to crawl under the car get a oil extractor. it's not that expensive. The only oil change place i can recommend is the "lube center". you can stay in your car and when they are done they will let you check thier work before you move your car. I only take my beater focus there though.

sorry everyone's on your back about jiffy lube. it's an easy mistake if you're not a "car person" but you now know.
jiffy...well, anything with lube in their business name is unacceptable. if you don't wanna pay the dealer rip off price learn to do it yourself. it's not THAT hard. i don't do it on this car (yet) but have done it on other cars and i'm not mechanical at all. same things go with brakes etc. dealer, GOOD shop, or diy. too many people just don't care enough to do it right. best of luck. and everyone makes mistakes. live and learn

The problem with Mini and Jiffy is simply because
1. there are so many different type of cars they need to handle - different type of filters (filters with canister type, filter without canister type and filter with CORE without canister type, etc.)
2. Mini Cooper (not S) needs extra care for the filter change.

If he drove Cooper S, this wouldn't happen.

Also my Mercedes has same type of filter design like Mini's. It requires many O-ring replacements for the oil filter change and I do that by my self.

I trust myself and I save money and it's fun, too.

Could be a blessing in disguise to go to these places.
Many years ago my brother took a car to a JL. The forgot to put the oil cap back on. He got a new engine. :-)
