Dodged a bullet!

I've got an '04 MC and last week I started hearing throw out bearing noise, so I drove it a couple of days to work and it started feeling pretty funky. I ordered a clutch kit and drove it 45 minutes to my mechanic. When I got there, it shuttered when I put it in reverse and felt mushy when I put it back in 1st to park it. My buddy stopped by there today and checked on it for me and told me that my throw out bearing was in pieces and had welded itself to the guide sleeve. My pressure plate was chewed up pretty bad as well and my flywheel was so cracked that it couldn't be machined. He said that the clutch disc still had some life left in it. I think I have done fairly good at getting 159K out of the original clutch. I'm just VERY happy that it didn't all fly apart on my way to the mechanic.

Yep, sounds like your lucky day! Good for you; now you gotta pay it forward (however that's done)...

I'll "pay it forward" over the next few months I'm afraid!
