2003 Mini Cooper S WRECKED

My cool little red mini was hit from behind last Saturday and pushed into and under a ford explorer...It has 40,100 miles and now has 7000 + dollars of damage. rear hatch small crease...hood is crunced, both bumpers toasted.
Air bags did not deploy and I can't believe they didn't
Radiator toat..air conditioning, toast, broken dip stick...agggghhhh
any advice on how to fight for my mini's health and well being will be appreciated..
I had it towed to Universal Mini in North Hollywood.

OMG, I'm so sorry to hear that! I know you're probably not ready to think about this but...the blue book value of your car is probably in the $10,000 range (less because of the damage obviously) so maybe you can just have your insurance company total it and move on? Again, I know how it feels to be attached to something you really love...just offering one opinion.

I hope something good comes out of this. And I'm also very disturbed about the airbags not deploying. Were you in the car when this all happened? (If you were, holy crap! Good thing you're in one piece still)

Airbags aren't supposed to deploy in low speed stuff and from the sounds of it you were stopped in traffic and got hit, is that right? I hope the real damage turns out to be superficial and they can get it back to normal, the lack of airbags should help keep it from being totalled.

sad to hear ur mini is hurt, but very glad that you are ok
I'm guessing the airbags didn't deploy because the front end went under the rear of the Explorer and probably didn't hit the sensors head on with enough force. As far as your Mini's health it's all in the hands of the insurance company for now, but just make sure that you take the car to a Mini dealer to get repaired if you go that route.

To be honest, with that much engine damage, they'll probably total it. Hope it works out for you, but the important thing is you didn't get hurt.

Glad to see you're ok. Chances are with $7000 in damage the car is probably totalled anyway. From what I've seen anything past 50% of the book value is totalled for the most part. If not, good luck with the repair, but if it is totalled then I'm sure you will be able to find something in that price range that'll make you happy even if it isn't another MINI.

That sucks! So sorry to hear. It's good that you're not injured. I agree that the car is probably totalled, but if you did want to fix it, you might be lucky that the air bags didn't go off. I've heard that those alone can total a car.
