Dealer wants $700 to fix my glove box lock - crazy. The after-market assembly on minimania.com does not come with a new lock. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

 

Fix in what way? Key's stuck - won't turn - ???

Maybe a locksmith? (seriously...)

 

My guess is it spontaneously falls open, like so many other ones.

I ordered mine from the dealer and installed it myself. This was before there was any aftermarket replacement. It was still kind of pricey, but the aggravation the door caused me by falling open, and the light in the glove box making night driving aweful, totally made it worth it.

Although, it would have been even more worth it if Mini actually designed something to be reliable.

 

I've got mine Gorilla taped until I get a cheapie repair figured out - foam behind the latch and velcro didn't work for me...

 

It doesn't help that Mini didn't make the latch servicable, i.e. you cant remove just the latch from the door and replace it. You have to R&R the whole door.
