Hi all
I have 02 MCS. Last fall my A/C quit on me. It was working fine when my son was cold so I turned it off using the button. A few minutes later I turned it back on but it never got cold.
This is what I have done so far, checked the Freon, the relay, and both fuses. The compressor does not turn on.
I'm changing the oil today does anyone have a suggestion that might help.

Dealer did diagnostics. Says that the A/C clutch on my 02 MC is bad. There were no symptoms...I just decided not to run the A/C compressor over the winter...when warm weather arrived this year, the compressor simply does not kick in and run. Dealer wants to replace compressor and clutch...says that's the way Mini ships them from the factory, so cannot just do the clutch. Estimate is approx. $1500...they are giving me some credit ...$300 for having done the diagnostics with them.

In my experience, for a clutch to fail, I would have expected some squealing and other symptoms.

Also...no loss of freon in this equation.

Before I plunk down the $1,500, hoping for some other common experiences where it was....just a fuse??????
