First service

I got my MINI almost 3 months ago. It was a one owner (2005) imaculate condition but few records came with it. The last oil change was 4 months ago and I called the mechanic to get as much info as he had. According to what I've read here, the oil change was up to par.
I noticed a spot on the floor of the garage last week about the size of a nickle.
I made a small list of things for them to check besides changing the oil (things I've read about here). I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best on the first check, since I've owned it.
Love this little car and I'll be on pins and needles till I get their call.

Wish me luck.

The best advise I can give you is to check your oil regularly....it is possible to have some very minor leaks that are best handled with "Watchful-Waiting", since they are not likely to worsen suddenly or cause problems. Some leaks may literly last forever, and not cause a problem, some may worsen.
Most likely, you will just ned to monitior the situation, by looking at spots you leave occasionally, and checking your oil every 1000 miles or so (you should be doing this now anyway).
It is possible it is nothing....so don't fret!! Often a minor oil leak repair can be combined with some required future repair for significant cost savings.
And PLEASE remember...many of the problems you read about here on these boards are worst case senerious....cars that may have been tracked, raced, or heavily modded, or "run hard, and put away wet" to use an equestrian term. Our MINI's may not be perfect, but often with basic care, they live very long lives, often well over 200,000+ miles!!
Good Luck!

What Zippy said. My 2005 has an oil leak too. I feared worst case scenario, but I've narrowed it down to an oil pan gasket leak. I monitor the oil level and never really have to top off. It turned out to be a minor leak, so do 'etcet scared with yours. It's probably something simple.

Fatherdeth and Zippy,
I picked it up just an hour ago. I was so happy that I just wanted to jump and shout.
Oil changed and checked out. It does have a small leak (valve cover gasket) and I was told to watch it and if it gets worse to bring it in. Not a big fix or expense. I had the brakes checked and to my surprise everything is new. I am so happy. I'll need two new front tires sometime in the near future. I've got the records starting from now, on the first day of the rest of it's life.
Thanks so much for replying and for being here.
