Just traded in my Jetta TDI with 203k miles. That's ~20 oil changes by the book. Didn't burn a drop over the 10k between changes. Oil+filter was about $40 per change.

I can think of alot better ways to spend the $800 I saved by not doing 5k oil changes.

There were guys over at tdiclub.com running 15k or 20k between changes on Rotella T or Delvac. Oil analysis proved this was working. Low wear metals, good TBN.

I'll do an oil analysis at 10k on my MINI and decid whether I'm going to listen to my OBC or not. And every 5k I'll take my sweetie to dinner with the money I could have spent on an oil change.
