Key problems in Northern California
Just got home with my 2006 MINI Cooper S and I can't get my remotes on both of my keys to work.I tried some programing tips that I found on the internet. But still not working ... any advice for a newbee....Bob
Yes if the car hasn't been run at all in a few weeks the vehicle battery could very well be dead, MINI claims the keys batteries are ok for a few months, but if you think the battery within the key has lost it's charge it is recommended that you take the car for an hours long drive to recharge the key (and there's some excellent roads in the Santa Rosa area for that). If you did enter the programing sequence with the computer in the car though, it will de-program the keys and you will need to reattempt the programming sequence.
I think I've got a slightly different set of instructions in my glovebox that I'll take a look at an post if they're any different, I hit the right combination to de-program the key after about 2 months of having the car and managed to recoup the programming with those directions that I found here on NAM.
