Digital display is off post-battery change

Good afternoon,

My 2005 MC original battery died last week and I just had it replaced. The car runs fine now, but the clock in the digital display never came back on and there are different numbers displayed there now - it looks like it might be my actual driving mileage (??odometer reading?). Pressing the little rubber clock changing button brings up the blinking --:-- , but I can't get the hours/minutes plugged in there. Pressing the button again just reverts it back to the odometer reading.

I'm wondering if there is a way to bring the clock back? This isn't a huge deal, but I got used to the clock being there.

I also had a flat about a month ago and after changing the tire, the flat-tire light never went off.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer. :-) Happy holidays.

I think you're in the wrong area of this website, Susan. This is for 2nd generation MINIs...I believe yours is 1st generation. (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong).

did your car come with an owner's manual?

sounds like you need to set the time in the clock

and reset the tire monitor ....

unfortunately I sold our GEN1 and no longer have a manual in hand. I could look it up on the web

.... but so could U ....

( I asked for this 2 be moved to proper area ... first post, let's give her a break )

This is a post-facelift first gen MINI with the clock in the speedo where the odometer is displayed. The clock is reset using the odometer re-set button.
From the manual:
1. Press button to display the clock
2. Press button for approx. 5 seconds to activate the clock-setting mode
3. Press button to select 12-hour or 24-hour mode
4. Wait approx. 5 seconds until the hours display flashes
5. Press button to set the hour
6. Wait approx. 5 seconds until the minutes display flashes
7. Press button to set the minute.
The set time is saved automatically after approx. 1 minute.
