Mini Wheel and Tire Warranty

I'm not sure if this is a stupid thought but better to know than not.

I got the extended wheel and tire warranty from mini for $900 when I bought my car. Best $900 I ever spent. Already messed up the two right rims due to grass growth over a curb I couldn't see and avoiding some ******* who ran in front of my car.
Anyway, I have the black webspoke which I like, but I'd like to go with something more sporty, lighter, etc. I figure if I were to sell them and the tire they're on (3600 miles), I could easily make up what I'd spend on nice rims and some sticky tires. The wheels retail for $481 each from Mini.
If I were to go with different rims, does my warranty carry over or is it tied to the rims being in my name. Did I insure my car for rim damage or my rims by themselves?

I'm pretty sure it was the original rims and tires that are insured. For a price they're standing behind their product. If you put aftermarket wheels and tires why would they insure those unknown wheels/tires?

Different MINI dealers offer different types of tire/wheel warranties. Some cover any approved wheels/tires and some cover only those wheels/tires installed at the time of delivery (or contract signing). Check the fine print of the warranty you signed or directly contact your MA and find out about the finer details. Whatever you find out, make sure it gets in writing. There have been a few issues with tire/wheel warranties over the past couple of years, so you'd best be prepared to know your rights and privileges as stated in the signed contract.

You said your wheels retail for $481 each from Mini. I hope you're not counting on selling them for even half that amount to someone else. What they say they're worth and what you can really get for them are 2 different things. And watch that wheel insurance policy. I think there's a dollar limit on it that you cannot exceed. You already got 2 wheels/tires? Read up on it. They're not gonna let you run over a street full of nails on worn out tires and get 4 new ones!

My warranty has a $4500 limit. Replaced 3 tires and fixed two rims......at close to $1K. So check your limit. My rims are ARA R1's.

Idk the one you have but mine covers cosmetic damage as well

@Thebignewt
I was supposed to get my two right wheel repairs (minor rash on rear, major on front), but I missed my appointment due to work conflicts. My plan if other wheels are covered (as it is not MINI that covers them, but rather an external company that MINI deals with) was to have them repaired under warranty and then sell them for whatever four Enkei EV5 rims (here) and some decent tires cost. I figure if I sell my rims for 200 each and get 150 each for tires (maybe a bit less) then I'll make at least what I spend.

Came to $1077 for wheels and tires shipped to me. I could definitely get that for tires with 4k-5k on them and fully repaired wheels.
