Sun Roof Stuck

After coming home yesterday, I went to shut the sunroof on our new 06 MCS and it didn't shut.

It moved forward about 2", and slowed to a stop, and then reversed.

I tried it again 3-4 times until I got out of the car, hit the switch and had to wiggle the glass panel the WHOLE time while it *slowly* shut.

Can anyone shed some light on this? We *just* got the car yesterday and I don't want to deal with this right now, which I'm sure you can imagine.

Thanks!

Needs greasing, had the same issue....however you can't move it right now, so get some WD40 with the tube and spray the rear wheels and front wheels on the sunroof, that should get it to move freely.

The one in my 06 refused to close, tried to manually crank it shut but it wasn't sliding smoothly so I left it open. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the sunroof cassette under warrenty. If you're still under warrenty go to the dealer and have it checked out.

Thats a waste of dealer money

1. Put WD40 on the front and rear wheels, and to the slider.
2. Open / Close the sunroof 2-3 times with at least 20 sec delay in each direction.
3. Put some thicker anti sticking oil to the sliding rails. ( Not to thick tho )
4. It should be fine for at least year.

It´s because of water that goes to the rubber ( or some material like that ) seal, and then dry´s again resulting to stickieness and these weird noises.

They said the cassette had broken. I don't think they would have replaced it if it was not necessary.

Thanks for the heads up everyone. I'm going to try and take it to the dealer. I don't care about wasting the dealers time/money...if something is broke, they give us a warranty in order to fix it.

However since we just got this car, there have been multiple little issues that are really pissing us off so there is a chance we may bring it back to the dealer.
