Engine light... loss of power... exhaust system issue?
Engine light... loss of power... exhaust system issue?
latest issue w/ my 2009 JCW.... felt a sudden loss of power @ 4800 rpm and the check engine light went on... took it into the dealership and SA says something with the exhaust system... service was close to closing, so the service area was shut down. SA said they'd read the fault codes today and let me know what it was... anyone else have this issue?
i did a search and found that there have been cat issues, but primarily with '07 cars... but if it is the cat, how would that lead to the sudden loss of power?
i've read of other similar instances, but some were drivetrain issues w/ automatic MCSs... and i haven't read about any similar problem with a JCW...
anyways... i'll add this to my list...
1) on my 2nd clutch
2) on my 3rd trunk latch
3) ac vents would blow shut
4) leaky windows
5) cold start chatter
6) new unknown issue...
this car is becoming a pain in the butt... and it sucks that i can't track it... well, i'm actually afraid to track it... feels like mini is just waiting for a reason to void my warranty... i really won't be surprised if the response is "well, you shouldn't have taken the car over 4800 rpms... it's your responsibility"... although another worker at the dealership commented on how clean my car was... past weekend i polished my nice red brake calipers and cleaned the inside of my wheels...

mini just called me... apparently there is a boot on the intake side of the turbo that is leaking... that explains the sudden loss of power... exactly what the piece is or looks like, i dont know and wont know until i see my car...
