LSD Oil replacement
LSD Oil replacement
I am at 60K and want to replace the Trany/differential oil.. i have the limited slip dif, i know there are oil additives required, anyone know which one or should I go to MINI?
Differential oil change
Did you change the oil in your differential or have it done? What additives did you use? Was this a recommendation for maintenance in your book? I did not see it but only at 42,000 miles. Regards, Mick
Texaco MTF94 is the stock fluid for a 2005 MCS with LSD,
which can be obtained at the dealer - they usually dispense it
from their big cans to small unmarked quart plastic ones.
Redline MTL is a good substitute, available by the quart/liter.
Never heard of an additive needed for this application.

I think most aftermarket changes are using Redline MTL. Some discussion in the how to thread about using different grades and brands and what is needed for a LSD.
A few years ago I had the Mini dealership change my transaxle lubricant. I asked the mechanic if my LSD unit gets any any special additives and he said no.
The stock fluid, MTF94, is 75W80 according to other posts on this Forum.
