HID headlight out, and solution

My 04 S was working fine until I noticed that the right Xenon was blinking and then when out. I shut it off and then on and it came on and then off again. The next morning I began shopping for OEM and aftermarket solutions. At lunch I went down to try to determine whether it was a bulb or ballast. I unclipped the bulb and then noticed that "someone" didn't turn and click the bulb into the socket. I carefully tried to separate the bulb from the socket. It finally did and then I saw the problem. By not fully seating the connection, there was arcing across the connections, and how it worked, I won't guess. Well, I was careful not to touch the bulb and ground away the melted plastic and cleaned the contact. Canned aired the bulb and reinserted, and it works perfectly. I don't think the bulb was even inserted correctly. From what I read, others may have thought it was a toasted bulb or ballast. If it happens to you, check the connections and fit first.

Yes, good advice. My old '02 MCS had regular lamps. My '06 MCS has HID lights.

Mine ended up being the bulb (was cracked) -
159.99 each for 'factory' Phillips - 103.49 each for brand-x at Advance (nada at Autozone) - 34.99 for pair on eBay (+ free s/h)...
Guess what I'm sporting now (plus a spare - the used one - in the glove box)...
