My MPG readout says 99.99

So like the title says, when i look at my miles per gallon screen on my tach, it says 99.99. Is there a way to reset this? Thanks!

Have you tried pushing the little button in and holding it for a couple seconds?

Is it instantaneous or average? If it's in the instantaneous mode (changes constantly) and you're coasting, it simply tells you the injectors have shut down to save fuel. If it's in average mode, then that's a problem.

Aggi,

We are having the same exact problem. By any chance have you had any work done to the computer lately? We first noticed our after having codes cleared on ours due to a clamp that was left loose. We have some other service coming up and will deal with it then, we'll let you know what we find out.

It is the average one. The instantaneous one works now, but it was doing the same thing. I have been having some EML lights come on on cold mornings so i assume its something electrical and they are linked somehow. J

And i think that little button is just to reset your "service miles". but thats a good idea. ill have to play around with it

The little button on the turn-signal stalk will reset the average speed and average fuel consumption.

Just press it repeatedly until the one you want to reset is displayed, and then press/hold it until the display resets.

Have you ever reset your average MPG? When my wife's car was new, she went about 5,000 miles without resetting the average MPG, and it started displaying extremely low values, like 2.7. Now that she resets it occasionally, it's been acting fine.

ECU reset

Try reseting the ECU by pulling the negative lead off of your cars battery and then re-clamp it place after a few minutes. With the ECU reset I think you will find that your electrical problem will disappear.
By the way how old is that battery in your car? If it's the OEM one it may also bear on this problem
