Rear hatch auto open

so my rear hatch opens by itself when I drive. Also, the button on the hatch wont open it anymore either. any suggestions? will the dealer take care of it no questions asked?

Wish I had some advice besides taking it to the dealership. I doubt any of your mods could have caused the issue and the dealership shouldn't give you any trouble. If you can't find a solution, just start calling your car Herbie to go along with its newfound personality!

hey pho, i remember seeing around when searching the threads that its caused by water getting into the handle part of the rear hatch on the outside (that piece that the license plate lights are connected to) -it comes off, and you can open it up , if you're still under warranty, bring it in and have them do it- but if its been raining hard or something of that nature, water getting into the switch causes it to short/do funky things and it opens on its own- which would also be connected to the problem of why it doesnt work anymore either.. good luck!

got.pho?

I took my DS/B '08 MCSa to the dealership Monday to have the jack replaced. It broke the 2nd time I used it. While there, the mechanic noticed my rear hatch release wasn't working without using the remote fob. Service writer ordered another saying it would be 7-10 business days since it was a part that needed to be painted. No charge for either item to be replaced. And, since I'm doing the "black out" anyway, I had him paint it black.
