I read today ( http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls...h&summary=true ) that there's a recall on the 07/08 Cooper S.

Don't worry, it's a minor deal....apparently the exhaust extends beyond the bumper (or fender to you guys) and some poor souls might get burned. It does mean the "lucky" ones will get a new exhaust it seems.

Thing is, I know the 07-08 is 2nd Gen but I've got an 08 Convertible so I'm confused

 

ya i heard about this from the dealer and laughed i am not changing my exhaust tips b/C they extend little far out and some Gomers burnt themselves lol they look really dumb when they have been replaced on the new MINIS

PS u put this in 1st Gen it should be in 2nd Gen just FYI..

 

That's kinda funny. There was a thread a while back about 'S exhaust tatoos'. IIRC it was 70/30 in the "deal with it" vs "this should be a recall!" debate.

Yeah I wasn't sure. I know 07-08 is 2nd gen........but I own an 08 cabrio which is 1st gen - so I don't know if I'm affected. (I'm going out to the carpark right now with my measuring tape!)

If I'm getting a new exhaust though I'm taking it!

 

Your not getting a new exhaust. They are replacing the tips only.
