It looks like the cold weather has taken it's toll on my passenger side Xenon (it tends to work better in warmer weather). My problem is that 95% of the time it won't fire. I've tried turning them on slowly, holding the revs @2500 rpm while turning them on, bending the prongs on the electrical connecter, swapping the bulb with driver side, swapping the ballast with driver side and still no luck. I'm at a loss.

I've had the headlight assembly out and can see the igniter but I don't see any way get inside to replace it. It's an 02 MCS so I'm out of warranty. I refuse to buy a new headlight from the dealer ($$$) and I don't want downgrade to halogens, so I figure I've got about 2 options:

1) Find a use one on ebay (not the easiest thing to come across)
2) Buy a Xenon conversion kit on ebay and replace the electrics on both lights.

Has anyone done the conversion kit to fix their problem?
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Am I missing something?

 

My 03 MCS Xenon did exactly the same thing around 55k miles, under the same conditions. If I flicked the lights on and off a few times, which turned into dozens of times the Xenon's would "ignite" but not reliably and I took all the same troubleshooting steps. It only took a month of waiting and one showed up on eBay complete: housing, ballast, bulb. for about $250 and just a few minutes to replace. Wish I could give more helpful advice, but I went down the same road...
