New fix for broken tabs on MC Air Box

In a recent thread I posted how I added screws adjacent to the air box lid on my 04 MC, an attempted repair for broken tabs.
While this fix worked, it looked kind of hack so I decided on a "do-over".

To make the fix look more permanent I installed 2 screen door clips purchased from True Value Hardware.

From the parts bin at the hardware store I selected 2 3/8"OD x 1/4" THK spacers with .179 hole through the center. The hole was opened to 3/16" with a UNIBIT drill.

The spacer was used as a template to locate the drilled hole in the air box lower flange.

Here is the front tab installed.

Here are both shown installed.

This repair should hold up better than my original attempt. I think it looks much nicer...

Looks good. Maybe you can paint them black.

I just noticed your metal hose clamp on the air intake hose... Do you fasten the metal hose clamp completely once you reattach the hose to the air box? I cannot fasten the metal hose clamp completely on mine =(

Yes. The clamp is released to remove the hose then re-clipped once the hose is re-attached. I use 10" Channel Lock pliers to "operate" the clamp. There are some threads stating the use of 4" Channel Lock Ignition pliers, however mine have worked great. Since I figured out how the clamp works I have had it apart 5 or 6 times.

Hi. I have this problem with my '04 MC and would like to try to fix the tabs. The pictures are not viewable for this thread. Could you repost them or maybe email directly?

Thanks.
