Melted wire bundle - driver side headlight
Melted wire bundle - driver side headlight
I noticed a bit of melted stuff on the inner "eyeball" of my 2005 MCSc. I don't know if this is recent or old. The wires wrapped in what I guess is electrical tape (but rough, not smooth tape) was a bit melted - about six inches around the driver's side headlight assembly. Sorry the picture isn't very good. The passenger side wire bundle looks fine.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but there was a little bit of condensation/moisture on top of the strut tower plate - rained two nights ago. Also, the headlight washer works on driver side (the melted side), but not the other.
What could cause this melting of wire/bundle? A short in a wire? What should I do? I am a total novice, I appreciate any advice!
Thanks!

Well, I can't see the melted part in the picture, but my first question would be whether all of the bulbs are stock, or if any of them have been replaced with aftermarket.
Are all of the lights still working?

I just got the car used a month ago, with 30k miles on it. i have no idea if the bulbs are OEM. I do know that there are zenon headlights. I'll check the lights, which ones - the headlights, high beams, fog lights? any others?
The melted part is the big part of the curve, if that makes sense.
Thanks!
