Rust-to-be areas?
Rust-to-be areas?
I noticed two areas in my new-to-me 2005 MCSc where the paint is worn/scraped away. I'd appreciate anyone's suggestions/comments. Am I needlessly worrying about body damage and rust?
The first rust -to-be spot I found was under the strut tower mount plates, especially around the bolts where there is the most pressure and contact. (The plates lift the paint off the body I think!) Will this rust over time?
The second rust-to-be spot is behind the damn license plate (On my car, there are two plastic receiving nuts in the back license plate area, then a Mini/OEM black plastic plate is mounted onto those two holes, and the standard four hole license plate is in turn mounted on to the black plastic part. The problem is that there was no padding or receptacle for the screws! There was some degraded chintzy thin foam stuff that didn't do squat. I put a couple of rubber washers behind the MINI black plate, but I have huge gouges in the paint where the screws were lovingly tightened by some dumb*** right into the body of the car. No paint and the metal is a bit scraped away too! Someone suggested epoxy to seal air out of the scraps?
Thanks everyone!
