I've been trying for six months now to get a bottle of touch-up paint for my wifes Indi blue Mini. It's been on special order for four of those months. Anyone else having this problem?

^^^ From the dealer? When I asked my MA he looked at me as if I'd lobsters crawling out of my ears and denied any knowledge whatsoever about touch-up paint or the potential need for it. Told me to go aftermarket.

I bought a touch-up paint-pen from AutoVisuals (sp?) who are an MCO sponsor. Haven't used it yet, but the guys in the detailing forum seem fairly happy with them.

My Dealer (Braman, south Florida) indicates that touch up paint has been back ordered since February. It seems there was a labeling problem and the material could not clear customs. Must be more to the story as labels should have been redone in six months. Moss Motors (Goleta, CA) has some colors in stock. The material is available in the UK, but sometimes transport and import duties are prohibitive. Some day I will get my electric blue.

I have used the pen (dark silver) I ordered from AutoVisuals and recommend it
over touch up paint in a bottle......easier to control than a brush and the paint is
thinner. The color match is perfect. You'll find it at AutoSharpPen.com

While at the dealer this past week for the fourth time for the same problem, don't ask, I attempted to order some Chili Red paint. Don't need paint yet, just wanted it since I was there already. One of the parts department employees informed that they haven't received any touch-up paint in months and can's even order any for MINI. He said it is a result of BMW reorganizing some things in New Jersey - I don't buy it - but at least walked away with the part number. I would have asked for it to be free, if they had it in stock, due to having to drive to the dealer four times during the week from an hour away with them not even being positive that they have fixed the car. Just guessing, replacing parts, not providing a loaner because I'm 18, ordering wrong part, etc. !!!

Hopefully all this will be straightened out soon so we may protect our cars.
