busted PDC on convertible

Hey folks

My PDC (parking distance control) stopped working. This happened a few weeks after my bumper (left side) was hit in a small accident. The PDC worked for a while after the accident, so i am not sure they are related.

According to my bentley manual, the PDC is located in the pass side trunk well. I am going to go investigate it in a few hours.

Between now and then, can anyone offer any suggestions as to what to look for, what may be broken, what to test, etc? I am going to start with the fuse, and then check out the module.

According to my manual, if i want to remove the rear bumper, i have to lift up the back of the car and remove both wheels. I will save this as a last option.

Between now and when i break out the tools, does anyone have any suggestions as far as troubleshooting a pdc? Please keep in mind that the unit was fully functional for weeks after the accident. Also, i have a convertible.

thanks
Eric

If it worked for a while afterwards, and then stopped, I'd suspect a broken wire or loosened connection under the bumper cover. It could also be that one of the sensor wires going back to the control module got pinched between some plastic or metal (maybe at a grommet where it passes into the body) and is shorting out.
