I am having the same problem but when i went down to the dealership i couldn't get my mini to make any noise (go figure). The tech said if he doesn't hear he can't diagnose the problem. (this is the same issue that i am having with the wheel angle senor) What can you do? you can't send someone under your hood on a goose chase.

I'm having the same problem on my 07 MC AT, what sucks is that it only happens while driving on small bumps on the road. I want to take it in, but i know they won't hear the noise. Could someone post the bulletin number & info? hopefully if i have that they will replace the mount.

Definitely is the transmission mounts. Have them call and ask for it, I had mine in 5 times before they finally called and MINI had them try the transmission mounts. As others have said, it works and the car feels better (less noise, easier shifting). I was told the issue is that the original mounting bolts were sub-par and stretched over time. That is why they have new ones. The new part numbers are availabe at realoem.com (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...52&hg=23&fg=10). Until you get the TSB from someone, that image should help them.

I took mine to the shop and it turned out to just be a loose nut on the sway bar, probably from driving like a bat out of hell. It was a super easy fix.

Thanks for sharing the SB number! I am headed there tomorrow. Hopefully that will help me avoid going 6 times to get it fixed.

Well the dealer couldn't find anything specific, said the whole suspension is noisy cuz it's not stock...yea right...and they couldn't find anything with the random stalling issue, another shocker

I've been annoyed with the rattling for almost a year now with several attemps at the dealership. Until I mentioned this post last week, they had no clue where the noise was coming from. SA said there was no SB as of yet for my 07. I told them to check the transmission mounts. Sure enought the mounts needed to be replaced. I'm calling in the SB # tomorrow. I took the car in a couple days ago to install the new parts and the noise is completely gone. Thanks guys for all the info =)

just had mine in for the same thing last week. I told the dealer it was making a creaking sound when pulling away from a stop. I figured it was the suspension, but it was a bad transmission mount. The part is on backorder - I hope it comes in soon as the sound is occurring more often now.

My rattle was the front brake pads rattling in the calipers. The problem went away completely when I installed the JCW Sport Brake Kit.

Does anyone know which bolts specificially need to be replaced? I am getting ready to just do this repair myself since it's not worth going back to the dealer again and again only to have them not fix it.

Bump. I've been in twice for the issue and even told them it was the transmission mounts, well they still haven't been replaced. I really want to know the part number so I can just do it myself because it's driving me nuts. Today they replaced the trunk striker lid? Whatever that is.. Still nothing. In fact when I told my SA @ Prestige MINI it's the mounts he even agreed and yet they weren't replaced. The part numbers should be on the workorder someone please post

Scroll up the page to my post, #55, and follow the link to realoem.com for part numbers. Tell the service manager, Rob, about the problem he'll help you out.

So my car is at the dealership again, they decided to keep it overnight to see if they can hear the noise after the car sits for a while.. Looks like these guys wont replace the mounts until they hear something, it's getting frustrating because i know it won't happen to them and i'll have to take it in again. I'll just have to keep going back till they get sick of seeing me, and replace the damn mounts already lol

This is getting frustrating, every time i go in to have the transmission mounts replaced.. They never do it, i mean i don't blame them. If i was a technician i wouldn't replace a part just because the customer said so.. They seem to want to hear the rattle themselves, but it never happens when I'm there... So I'm pretty much SOL.. Does anyone know what's involved in replacing the damn mounts? The parts are relatively cheap.. I really can't stand the rattle anymore

Is there any circumstance that always make your car rattle? Mine always rattled when approaching a stop sign (brake applied or not) with the clutch in and hitting slight bumps in the road. My dealer's tech took this into consideration when test driving my car and found a suitable road which offered the same conditions. Maybe if you can figure out a condition that always causes the rattle, they could duplicate it.

The thing that frustrates me the most is that the dealer identified a noise once and replace the sway bar bushings, which didn't help the problem at all. Then when I brought it back again they were unable to identify a noise. This is getting really frustrating. I gave the dealer a bad review out of my frustration with this issue and others that they seem to be unable or unwilling to spend the time on.

I brought my car in for service recently. The dealer had to replace a brake wear sensor and now the car no longer makes the noise! Is it possible there was something loose in the caliper or pad causing a similar noise from the same location? This is getting so odd.

I had loose front caliper on my 07 and current 08. There's some "glue" that goes on the back of the pads to keep them from being loose, that was missing. Cured my clanking...

That's good to know. I think this cured my car because I have not had any rattling over the bumps that used to cause the issue 100% of the time.
