Diagnosing a bad control arm bushing?

Hi all, I searched but I didn't find much. I think I need new lower control arm bushings. I am getting a loud clunk over bumps and pavement ripples from the drivers front. It just became very noticeable on the drive home from getting 215/45/17 tires mounted. How do I positively diagnose this? I put the car on the lift. but i couldn't feel any complacency on in the joints.

Thanks for any help,
Kyle

Is everything correctly tightened? It is weird that something like that could cause the sound to pop up, specially when the suspension was not touched. Take a look at the front sway bar bushings, there was a tech bulletin on earlier R56's.

Try checking if your lug nuts are all tight.

That's the first thing I did when I got home. I don't trust any tire shop to torque wheels correctly.

The lower control arm bushings on my 03 MCS were replaced around 40Kmiles. Now, the car is around 83Kmiles and I think I need new ones. I should have gotten an aftermarket for the first time, but live an learn...

In my case, I "think" I hear thump noise over bumps; but, more prominent symptom for me is this: when I am decelerating -at any gear- if I tap the breaks (not a push, just a fast, firm tap), the steering wheel moves slightly to left and right. That was what I was experiencing at 40Kmiles, and it started to do the same now. I'll be getting Powerflex front control arm bushings this time
