Seat ignited on fire
Have you heard of this? I started my 2006 S and my seat instantly came on fire??? It actually had a flame out of the middle seat back..after burning my back and putting out the flame notice on the left and right side of the seat back were burns through the seat as well. I wonder if this was smoldering and when I turned on the ignition it ignited the seat. It was instantanious. Has anyone known of this to happen....Mini came and it was towed to the closest dealer. I think this is very important to see what cause this. I miss my mini!!!

The heating element broke that raised the resistance in the wire at the point of the break and heat is the by product. Great story on the web of a guy in a SAAB with burnt pants (iam sure not funny at the time). Good to hear your all right and that it sounds like Mini is going to take care of it.

**** I have seen this happed just recently a car came in to out dealership
in long beach the tech next to me is working on a car with thr bckrest has a
little small burn mark a size of say a pen cap. Never seen anything like this
here in southern calif. I was told maybe the car was from a cold climate
state. I didn' think a seat backrest also was heated guess I was wrong.
But I believe its being taken care of.
